  • Spring Plein Air Weekend | Daylesford

    23 - 25 October 2026

Exclusive access · Private Estate · En plein air · A restorative & creative escape

Capture the fresh light and colour of spring among sweeping lawns, century-old gardens and towering specimen trees at Wombat Park Estate, one of Daylesford’s most remarkable and rarely accessible private properties. As carpets of bluebells unfurl beneath the trees and the gardens burst into life with every shade of green, this storied estate becomes your exclusive living canvas for two soul-nourishing days. Immerse yourself in landscape painting en plein air, drawing inspiration from blossom, birdsong and the luminous clarity that only spring can bring.

Your accommodation at Lewellyn House places you in the heart of Daylesford, directly opposite the Convent Gallery and in walking distance to shops and cafes. Lewelleyn House is a beautifully restored historic home, each guestroom with its own ensuite, and the house itself is warm, elegant, and curated for creativity. It is the perfect sanctuary to return to after your days outdoor painting.

This retreat is designed to give you time to paint, wander, reflect, and settle into your own artistic rhythm. Whether you are seeking to deepen your practice or reignite your creative spark, this weekend in the central highlands offers the perfect blend of structured guidance and unhurried exploration.

    THE EXPERIENCE

Wombat Park Estate is a living artwork. Gentle lawns roll into shadowed groves; sculptural tree lines give way to long vistas and dappled pathways; the garden’s architecture shifts throughout the day as the sun travels overhead. The mood is of soft light, peaceful glades and the sense of being cocooned by nature and history.

    What to expect;

    • Morning discussions and demonstrations to spark intention

    • en plein air painting sessions guided by Lana’s relaxed, supportive teaching style

    • One-on-one conversations to help you refine your own direction

    • Unstructured time to paint on location

    • Aperitivo hour each evening as we share the day’s work

This retreat best suits oil or acrylic painters. Confidence is not required... only curiosity

  • Landscape Painting Retreat | Tasmania

    10 - 16 January 2027

Join me for a week of landscape painting in beautiful Tassie! The week will be spent working both en plein air and in the studio - offering you plenty of source material and time to explore different directions in your work. The intention of this week is to paint, paint, paint! The combination of painting as much as possible, then reviewing work in the evening, will help you to expand your practice and will encourage you to start making more intuitive decisions about your own work. For part of the day I will be painting alongside you, combined with sessions where I offer more structured exercises you can choose to focus on.

You will be staying in your very own non-sharing room deep in the hills of remote North East Tasmania in a purpose built art space retreat. Amongst the rolling green hills sits a single streetscape untouched by commerce or tourism. Beyond the hills, lies an epic landscape in every direction. The rich orange and turquoise seas of the Bay of Fires, stunningly clear rivers in deep valleys and access to remote painting locations unseen by most visitors. This part of Tasmania will speak to every artist on every level.

The hotel has been lovingly restored and curated by Artable founder Gillian who has brought together a decade of award winning retreat experiences to offer artists their non-sharing rooms at no extra charge, a huge light filled art studio, a comfortable group lounge complete with Chesterfields and fireplace, daily excursions to visit carefully selected landscapes and the very best local Tassie fare available. This retreat is for those of you keen to explore mark making in one of Australia's most powerful natural landscapes.

Bookings for 2027 haven’t opened yet, but please register your interest below and I'll be sure to let you know when they do!
